Dean Davis

Dean Allen Davis, 71, of Deer River, MN passed away on October 24, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at 9:00 a.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Dean was the son of Alvin and Emma Kellogg Davis and was born October 14, 1943, in Marshalltown. He was raised on a farm in the Dunbar area. Later, his family moved to a farm in Marshalltown. He graduated from Marshalltown High School. He was united in marriage to Sandra Glenewinkle on August 21, 1965. She preceded him in death by one year. They had been married 48 years. Dean worked at Fisher Controls for 36 years and also served in the Iowa National Guard. He had his own Locksmith business and was also active with the Ham Radio group. Dean and Sandy spent many vacations in Minnesota fishing and he had a home on a lake in Deer River where he lived at the time of his death. Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Wayne (Janet) Davis, Donna Davis Allee and numerous nieces and nephews. Dean is also preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Roger Davis
