Dean Lench

Dean L. Lench, age 77, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on the evening of April 28, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

At this time, cremation rites have been accorded and a family led memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Dean was born November 4, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was one of four children born to Loren and Vivian (Clemenn) Lench. Dean grew up in Gladbrook and later moved to Marshalltown. He later graduated from Gladbrook High School. Following High school, Dean enlisted in the United States Army in 1969.

Growing up, Dean’s family had numerous family gatherings and at the center was a close family friend, Diane Lubbert. They began their life together and Diane became Dean’s world. He loved to find ways that he could spoil her and care for her in all the best ways possible. They thoroughly enjoyed going out together for long drives in the cars on vacations and just simple road trips to enjoy each other’s company. Dean had a soft spot for animals and had two furry four-legged companions which he loved, Rusty and Blue. He was fond of country western music and was a fan of all Iowa Hawkeye sports. Together, in their 60 years, Dean and Diane were members of the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are the love of his life and life companion, Diane Lubbert; his brother, Dale Lench; and nieces and nephews, Diana (Rich) Van Allen, Barb Oxley, Dawn Mills, Sara (Jeremy) Harris, Monica Johnson, Debra (Rob) Novak and Amanda Cuellar alongside numerous loved and cherished extended family members.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Vivian Lench and his siblings, Jolene Mills and Allan Lench.
