Deborah "Debby" Owen

Deborah Ann Cullor Owen completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 12:49 p.m. at home with family by her side. Debby was born on March 29, 1951 to Orval Lee Cullor and Doris Christeen Wyant in Unionville, MO.

Debby was married to the love of her life, Melvin Eugene Owen. She had a love for the outdoors, camping with Mel and yearly family canoe trips. Debby enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and music from all genres, though her dancing was a little rough. She was a strong-willed woman who did what she wanted and had many stories to tell. She blessed all of us kids with her crazy, sassy and stubborn attitude – which made all of our lives more exciting.

Deborah is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Lynn (Scot) Hayward of Newton, IA and Laura Lee Nordstrom of Marshalltown, IA and her grandchildren: Heather Lynnae Decker and Joseph David Decker, both of CO, Darion Michael (Kendra) Monroe of OK, Trinity Elizabeth Ann Kent of Newton, IA and Zackary Joseph Vick of Marshalltown; great-grandchildren: Bailey Lynnae Hoogeboom, Spencer Mark Hoogeboom, Tyler Gwendolyn Allen, Melia Engrace Decker, Eva Kinsley Decker and Daxton Michael Monroe; as well as several nieces and nephews. Her siblings: Charles Darwin Cullor of Fort Madison, IA, Reta June (Lennie) Green of Marshalltown and Vicki Lynn Darrow of Jacksonville, IL.

In death, Deborah was reunited with her parents, her husband and siblings: Dixie Darlene, Cloe Frederick, Virginia Lee Zimmerman, Ruby Louis Hood-Chancellor, Terry Reason and Ronald Dean.

Per the wishes of Deborah and her family, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
