Debra Peters Schwarck Griggs, 61, of Grinnell passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Services for Debbie will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Debra Kay Peters was born on July 27, 1954 in Sac City, Iowa to Howard and Barbara Hott Peters. Debbie graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1972. As a member of the Marshalltown High School Band, Debbie and her brother Steve attended and performed at the 1970 New Years Day Rose Bowl. Debbie attended Beauty School and was a homemaker for several years. She had worked as a cook at Grinnell Mutual, the Maid Rite, a CNA at St Frances and Mayflower Nursing Homes, and as a home health aide. Debbie was a member of the Grinnell Education PTO, the Womens Circle, Womens Fellowship, taught Sunday school, and VBS at Grinnell Christian Church. Debbie was president of the Grinnell Hospital Auxiliary, ran the gift shop and meals on wheels program as part of that position. She was a current member of Hope Community Church in Montezuma. Debbie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She especially cherished the time with her family, attending her grandchildrens activities, reading a good book, and cuddling up with her dog Harley. She loved her Lord and Savior, counting her Blessings every day. Debbie is survived by her children: Kimberly (Randy) Dixon of Bloomfield, Iowa, Krystal (Greg) Davidson of Eldora, Ben (Cari) Schwarck of Grinnell and Jeremy (Becky) Schwarck of Grinnell. Grandchildren: Joshua (Cassie Sayre), Jared, Jayden and Jace Dixon. Kayla, Kiera and Keelie Anderson, Kade Davidson, Cody (Lindsey Kriegel), Cameron, Mason, Haylee and Kaitlyn Schwarck. Great grandchildren: Draven and Ryker Dixon. Brothers: Steve (Randi) Peters of Ames and Mike (Teresa) Peters of Marshalltown as well as the father of her children; Jeff Schwarck and her dog Harley. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Barbara.
