Delbert Eugene Johnson

Delbert E. Johnson, 71, of Marshalltown, died Monday morning, April 23rd, at the Israel Hospice House in Ames. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26th, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery north of LeGrand with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. Born Delbert Eugene Johnson on January 29th, 1936, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Ole and Lulu (Elliott) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown and was employed in the family business founded by his father. He enjoyed fishing, camping, being with his family, watching old movies on AMC, and the outdoors and looked forward to his every birthday. Left to mourn his loss are his brother, Martin (Bernita) Johnson of Casa Grande, Arizona, three sisters: Delores (Dan) Taylor of Marshalltown, Shirley Randall of Marshalltown and Dixie Kroener of Marshalltown whom Delbert lived with these last years and who was his caretaker, 28 nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was rejoined in heaven by his parents, brother Virgil, sister Aliene Beaderstadt and her husband Lowell, brother-in-law Dale Randall and niece, Kathy Sanks.
