Delight Callahan, age 85, of Tama, passed away early in the morning of Saturday, March 28th, in the comfort of her home in Tama, with family at her side and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice. She passed in the same home that had been in her family since she was 6 years of age. Private family graveside services will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Born on August 6th, 1934, in Tama, she was the daughter of Irvin Francis and Maxine Arvilla (Armstrong) Plowman. Her parents were faithful servants of God in the Tama community and all over the state and nation. She received her education in the area of her birth. She had the honor of going back to school in the early 1970’s to gain her GED and graduated alongside her mother and her daughter, Rita. On December 4th, 1954, she was united in marriage to Rondal Gene Callahan in Lincoln, IL. They made their home in Tama where she worked in many nursing homes including Carver’s, Bethesda and Sunnyhill. Delight was a member of the Gospel Center and dearly loved her family. She enjoyed flowers, traveling to explore new places, and fishing in years past. Left to cherish her memory are her children- Debbie (Jeff) Roberts and Tim (Patty) Callahan all of Tama; grandchildren- Deanna (Phil) Brownfield, Brian Slaven, Adam DeVilder, Kristi Callahan, Brandon Callahan, Misty (Pat) Hartford, Dustin (Erin) Kvidera, Dakota Kvidera, Bonnie (Clyde) Purk; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In death, she has rejoined her beloved Rondal who passed away in 2010, her son Michael in 2011 and daughter Rita Kay Malcomson in 2011, son Richard at birth in 1955, her only sister Frances “Fran” Twit in January of this year and her parents.
