Della Beeghly

Della Beeghly, 84, of Liscomb, died early Monday morning, December 15th, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, where she has resided since September. She passed away peacefully while in the care of her loving family, Oakview, and the Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Hartman officiating. Immediately following the services but prior to burial, a luncheon will be held at the E-Free Church on South 6th Street in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest in the Liscomb Cemetery. Born Della Van Slyke on June 11th, 1924, in State Center, she was the daughter of George and Cleta (Mischler) Van Slyke. She graduated from the Liscomb High School Class of 1942.On April 17th, 1943, in Bethany, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Beeghly. After his return from the military, they farmed near Liscomb for many years until his untimely death in a farm accident on March 12th, 1974.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Maggie (John) Catron of Marshalltown, Jim (Nina) Beeghly of Fayette, Iowa, Judy (Wayne) Schiebel of Conrad, Mary (Bill) Zink of Marshalltown, Lois (Jerry) Beeghly of Conrad, Enid Weis of Salina, Kansas and Larry (Jodean) Beeghly of Conrad, 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In death, she has rejoined her husband, her parents, grandson Brian Schiebel and sisters Norma and Donna.
