Delores Clawson, 78, of State Center, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at her home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice and her loving family. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation for Delores will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in her name to her family.Delores was born June 3, 1934, in Marshall County, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Vivian (Long) Mitchell. She was raised and educated in Lamoille and graduated from the LaMoille High School. Delores was united in marriage to Robert Clawson on May 10, 1952. They moved to Texas and raised their family there for several years. During their time in Texas, Delores worked at TPI. Following their move back to Iowa in the mid 1990s, Delores worked at the Round Table and Surplus Supply. Most recently she was employed as a bus monitor for over ten years at the Marshalltown School District and was known as Grandma Dee. Delores enjoyed college basketball and college football and her favorite team was the Duke Bluedevils. Delores and Robert loved to go dancing and spent many times together on the dance floor together. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and watching her grandson play baseball in Rhodes. Delores is survived by her husband Robert Clawson of State Center, her children: David Clawson of Wolcottville, Indiana, Mary Gutierrez of Dayton, Texas, Paul (Tess) Clawson of Rhodes, Iowa, Hope (Julio) Molina of Pasadena, Texas, and Susan Fahlbush of Deer Park, Texas, her daughter-in-law Cathy Clawson of Marshalltown, her son-in-law Larry Dare of Melbourne, Iowa her brother Vernon (Gretchen) Mitchell of Newton, her sister Jane Peshel of Marshalltown, her sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her son Doug Clawson and daughter Kay Dare.
