Delores Swanson, 79, of Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown surrounded by her loving family.Funeral services will be held at10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harold and Emma Mae (Jackson) Colby. After her mother passed away, Harold remarried Barbie and she was a very important part of Delores life. She attended school in the Hampton School District graduating with the class of 1951. Delores then went on and furthered her education and became a Registered Nurse and worked at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in the OB labor and delivery department for 35 years, retiring in 1995. On July 3, 1954, Delores was united in marriage to Robert Swanson. Delores had been a member of First Baptist Church in Marshalltown, where she was involved in many areas of the church, Choir, Deaconess, funeral lunches and Marshalltown Lioness, in which she had just received a Lifetime Membership Award. Delores always loved the babies, whether it be her own or those she helped deliver, she loved to camp and fish and always liked to travel.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Barbara(Mark) Peterson of Ames, Steven (Becky) Swanson of Cass Lake Minnesota, David (Diana) Swanson of Marshalltown, Iowa and Karen (Bobby) Hall of Oceanside, California, her grandchildren: Michael(Maggie Gentle) Peterson, Melissa (Graham Fuller)Roberts, Amy (Ryan) Brown, Joshua (Dustin Ross)Swanson, Brent (Melissa) Swanson and Alexander Hall, and great-grandchildren: Jakob Peterson, Ethan, Dylan, and Peyton Roberts, Gabriel Fuller and Paige and Zachary Brown. In death Delores rejoins her parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
