Dennis Burton Breckenridge, 79, a Gilman resident for the past 36 years, died on August 11, 2018 at the Mercy Hospital with his family and friends beside him. He was a father to Dennis Ray, Randy, Debbie, Ryan, Joan, Jason and Paula with numerous grand and great-grandchildren…. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents Burt Sr. and Adine and his brother Burt Jr…. He had a lifetime of living before meeting and marrying Peggy. They were married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA on December 3, 1982, after 5 years of being together. They had one son together, Breck (Kassandra) Adam and grandchildren Kaiden, Rydir, Emery and Kennady. He was a stepfather to Jeanne Snyder (Robert), DeAnn Oswald, Greg (Racquel) and Crissy Earney, grandfather to Charleen, Amber (Jake), Koren, Kaylanna, Nekka, Shannon, Joshua, Christopher, Matthew and great-grandchildren Nohlan, Braden, Conlahn, Isaiah, Adeline, RubySeu, and Jackson. He was a longtime semi-driver, his father teaching him to drive before he graduated from high school. He drove semi for his dad, he helped build I-80, worked at Maytag on and off throughout his life. He worked at Kenworth in Kansas City, and went back to semi-driving ending up at Holland Plastics in Gilman. Getting off the road when Holland Plastics closed, he chose home life and family, rather than going back on the road. He began working at Meskwaki Casino as a shuttle driver for many years and right up until the end of his life. He enjoyed his spoiled dogs, music, fishing, kayaking, RVing, playing on his computer and his see and find games. He enjoyed family and family get togethers, reminiscing and the fire pit…..hot dogs and s’mores! He will be greatly missed remembered and loved by many….. WHAT A WONDERFUL LIFE!
