Dennis Franklin Breesly Brees, 62, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Memorial services for Frank will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel in Marshalltown, Iowa. Public visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until services on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 where his family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Frank and his family. Dennis Franklin Brees was born on September 26, 1950 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Frank and Eunice (Elliott) Brees. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown school district graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1969. After high school Frank honorably served his country. He joined the Navy on September 23, 1969. After Dennis got out of the service February 19, 1971, he worked maintenance at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. At different times in his life, he was also a cook at a nursing home in Arizona and worked at NASA in Florida. Dennis had a true passion for fishing, hunting, and working with his hands, particularly woodworking. He also loved sharing his appreciation of classic rock music with everyone. Left to cherish his memory is his children: Jennifer (Ray Moreno) Brees, Sean (Patty) Brees; two sisters: Patricia Walker and Nancy Brees; his father: Frank Brees; two nieces: Kellie DeRuiter and Mallory Walker; nephew: Lee Walker, step-mother Marilyn Brees of Marshalltown, He is preceded in death by his mother Eunice Mayer and step-father Harold Mayer, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
