Dennis G. Papa Ellison Sr., 70, of Marshalltown, died at his home on Tuesday, April 17, surrounded by his family and under care of Iowa River Hospice.Following cremation, a private family graveside service will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington, Illinois. Please call 641-753-8263 for more information.Dennis was born September 13, 1941, in Paxton, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Sara (Curtis) Ellison. He was raised and educated in the Rantoul, Illinois area. Dennis met the love of his life Edith and they were later married on August 28, 1961, in Bloomington, Illinois. Following their marriage they made their home in Champaign, Illinois for several years before moving to Bloomington, Illinois. Their family later settled in Marshalltown in 1974 and Dennis began his career as a machinist at Dunham-Busch in Marshalltown.Dennis was a proud member of the UAW 893. Dennis enjoyed collecting coins and was a history buff. He had a special interest in World War II history. Most of all he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family and will be dearly missed.Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Edith Ellison of Marshalltown, his children: Thereasa Ellison of Kellogg, Iowa, Sherri Ann (Kris) Kubosumi of Whitten, Iowa, Cynthia (Peter) Perrine of Wheaton, Illinois, Dennis Guy (Jennifer) Ellison Jr., of Morton, Illinois, his loving grandchildren: Candace, Chasity, Robert, Tyler, Mariah, Honor, David, Paul, William and Katherine, his twelve great-grandchildren.Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Neil at birth and his granddaughter Sara at birth.
