Dennis Robert Hulin 62, of Dunbar, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Military Honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Harry C. Harter Post #839 and the American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Memorials may be directed to the family. Phone 641-844-1234.Dennis Robert Hulin was born in Grinnell, Iowa on July 9, 1950; he was the son of Lauder and Lola (Gunderson) Hulin. Denny attended school in the LDF School District graduating with the class of 1968. Denny served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. While in Viet Nam he earned the Bronze Star. On April 9, 1994, Denny was united in marriage to Diana Hoy at the Bethel Grove Church; he had lived most of his life in the Dunbar Area. Denny retired from Fisher Controls which he worked there for over 35 years. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, playing slots at Meskwaki Casino, collecting old nickels and above all else just cherishing his family, especially his grandchildren.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 18 years, Diana; children: Matt (Jodi Story) Hulin of Gilman; step children Heather (Joseph) Robinson of Liscomb: Bruce (Kelley Kabrick) Rook of Beaman and Bryce (Rhonda) Rook of Missoula, Montana; grandchildren: McKaylee, Darian, Mahala, Sadie, Gage, Mya, Jayden and Lane; brothers: Jimmy (Charlene) Hulin of Marshalltown, Norman (Chris) Hulin of Gilman, Skip Hulin of Marshalltown and his twin brother Douglas Hulin of Wheatridge, Colorado; and his sister Sharon (David) McCubbin of Green Mountain.In death Denny rejoins his parents, brothers: Mark and Larry Hulin; sister Marlys Hulin and grandparents Jelmer and Mae Gunderson.
