Dennis Karl

Dennis Eugene Karl, age 76, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Monday May 8, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was born on January 22, 1941 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, to Thomas and Vera (Kruger) Karl. Graveside services for Dennis will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown. Dennis graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1960. He then joined the Navy on December 8, 1960 and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock operating out of California. He served his country for 4 years until November 16, 1964 and was honorably discharged at that time. He then worked for a time for Bob Arthur doing farm work. He was united in marriage to Judy Garrison and from that union were born 3 children: Kathy Lucille, Michael Eugene and Tonya Kay Karl. After his divorce, he married Jorga (Steen) Kix on 9/1/1974. Upon his divorce he married Staci Wedeking whom he later divorced. He loved to travel and owned a Motor home and spent his winters in Branson, Missouri enjoying the many shows he attended while there. On December 7, 2005 he became a resident of the Iowa Veterans home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He is survived by his children, Kathy, Michael and Tonya and his siblings: Barbara Woods and her husband Darrell of Spencer, Iowa, Donnie Karl and his wife Arlene of Spencer, Bea Reiter and her husband Clarence of Spirit Lake, Bonnie Lambert and her husband Tom of Milford, Brenda Johnson and her husband Roger of Estherville, and David Karl and his fianc, Nancy of Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Vera Karl, his sister Beverly Longmore and a brother Darrell Karl.
