Dennis Rector, 62, of Bondurant, died early Friday morning, January 6, 2017, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Born on September 2, 1954, in Marshalltown at the St. Thomas Hospital, he was one of two sons born to Thomas and Ardis (Throop) Rector. He attended St. Marys School and later graduated from the Marshalltown High School. Denny then attended UNI. Denny had a first marriage, and from this marriage a daughter, Danielle, was born. She now has five children- Ayden, Dakoda and Logan Allen and Stephen and JD Ungarsky. Denny was passionate about the mental health and welfare of many and was employed in the mental health field his entire working career. For the past twelve years, he was employed at Eyerly-Ball in Des Moines and previously at Mercy Hospital. On October 4, 2014, he was united in marriage to Leanne (Pose) Rook, in Bloomfield, Iowa. He was blessed to have her children join them in this marriage. Denny enjoyed time with family, cook-outs, camping, and motorcycles. He was raised in the catholic faith and was a member of ABATE. Left to cherish his memory are Leanne, his loving wife of two years, his mom Ardis of Marshalltown, Leannes children and grandchildren: Amy (Terry) Cooper of St. Charles, IA along with children Zachary Irelan, Colton Irelan, Isabella Cooper and Anna Cooper; Jason (Alisha) Rook of Bloomfield and children Kirstin and Kelsey Rook; Megan Brewer (fianc Daniel Hull) of Bloomfield and children Hadleigh Brewer and Wyatt and Talon Hull; and many other family and friends. In death, Denny rejoined his dad and brother, Steven.
