Dennis Vollman, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Iowa River Hospice Home. Services for Dennis will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis’s name may be directed to the Great Commission Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of six children born to Jacob and Marie (Papen) Vollman. Dennis attended school in California and graduated from high school in 1971. He attended a couple of years of junior college to become a journeyman carpenter and later in life a contract manager that allowed him to manage projects all over the world. Dennis was united in marriage to Marcia Pace and together they raised six children, Anna, Sarah, Amie, Jon, Jimmy, and James in Baytown, Texas. Dennis worked most of his adult life for Kellogg, Brown, and Root, retiring in 2019.Following retirement moved to Iowa. On December 9, 2017, Dennis was united in marriage to Marsha (Bucklin) at the Evangelical Free Church in Marshalltown. Together they attended the Great Commission Church in Marshalltown. Dennis was a member of the Church on the Rock in Baytown, Texas as well as taught at their Christian School in Baytown. In his free time, Dennis loved to build various projects, dabble in his garden, going fishing, going on camping trips, take hikes, and occasionally going golfing. In his younger years he loved to go mudding in his Jeep, played cards, and Mexican Train. He was a family-oriented man and was always quick to forgive. Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife Marsha Vollman; his children, Anna (Michael) Landry of Baytown, Texas, Sarah Vollman of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Amie Vollman of Atlanta, Georgia; his step children, James Alvarez of Leander, Texas and Jimmy Alvarez of Baytown, Texas; 15 grandchildren; his siblings Larry Vollman of San Jose, California, Doug (Marnie) Vollman of Copper Center, Alaska, Diane (Michael) Madrid of Santa Clara, California, Susan Vollman of Florence, Oregon, and Claire (Greg) Mandeville of Spartanville, South Carolina; alongside his aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marcia Vollman; his step-son, Jon Alvarez; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
