Dennis Walton, 76, of Montour, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 15, 2024 while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
Services for Dennis will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa beginning at 10:30 A.M. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dennis was born October 30, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the only child born to Raymond Walton and Patricia (Sadler) Bacino. At a young age after Dennis’ father passed, Patricia was united in marriage to Chan Bacino. From that union four children were born. Dennis grew up in Tama, Iowa and later graduated from Tama-Toledo High School in 1966. He was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard retiring after 23 years of service on June 30, 1998.
On June 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Caslavka at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa. They began their life together living in Toledo, Iowa. Dennis and Carol moved to Marshalltown in 1970 where they raised their two sons. Dennis started employment at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown at that time. In 1995 they moved to Montour, Iowa where they continued their life together. Dennis retired from Fisher Controls on June 1, 2008.
Dennis was a member of the U.A.W. local 893 of Marshalltown. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions with Carol, working on his house, going to stock car races, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Carol Walton; his son Matt (Katie) Walton and their family, Eli Walton, Delainey (Steven) DePauw, Kierra, Christian, Journey, and Raymond. His second son, Nate (Dawn) Walton and their children, Briauna (Tim) and their children Rowan, Wren, and June, Lane (Whitney) and their family, Colson and Maggie, Ean (Riley) and Logan; his siblings, Mike, Kathy, Gina (Ted) Sharer and Laurie; and special aunt Barb Sadler. Alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Walton; his mother, Patricia (Walton) Bacino and step father Chan Bacino; his grandfather Lauren Sadler, grandmother Frances Sadler; uncles and aunts, Robert and Ruth Sadler, Delbert Sadler; nephew, Alex Sharer; his mother and father-in-law, William and Mildred Caslavka; and brother-in-law, George Caslavka.
