Dennis L. Zednichek, 84, longtime resident of Marshalltown, passed away on July 31, 2026 in Eden Prairie, MN surrounded by the love of his wife and daughter.

Born on March 31, 1942 in Marshalltown, he was the son of Floyd and Rose (Pelcman) Zednichek. He graduated from Marshalltown High School and went on to attend Marshalltown Community College. In April 1962, he married Joan (Baily), his high school sweetheart and shared 64 years together. From this union they had a daughter, Denise.

Dennis was a dedicated employee at Fisher Controls/Emerson for 41 years. During that time, he worked in various areas, retiring as a Project Manager overseeing oil and gas valve products in the Middle East.

He was an avid car enthusiast, connoisseur of all types of music, and ardent landscaper. He enjoyed playing games with family and friends, and was the Iowa State Cribbage champion both in singles and doubles. Dennis enjoyed his travels with Joan annually to Maui, along with cruises and trips to Mexico.

In his passing, he joined his parents and sister Barb Zednichek. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joan; daughter Denise (Wiley) Wilkinson; grandchildren Zach (Hannah) Wilkinson and Logan (Anna) Wilkinson; and great-great grandchildren Samuel Zed Wilkinson and Vivian May Wilkinson.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11:30 am. Visitation will begin at 11:00 until the time of the service. There will be a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation.
