Derek Williams, 28, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away early Monday morning, October 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Derek Mackenzie Williams was born on March 27, 1990, at Scott Airforce Base in Illinois; he was the son of Robert Wayne and Lori (Benda) Williams. Derek was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in 2004. He attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 2008. He attended college at UNI and played football for the Panthers. Derek was currently working for Boulder Contracting in the concrete business. He will be remembered for his kind, thoughtful and caring ways. He always tried to make people feel good about themselves. Derek always made sure to include others and he had many, many, many friends and they were always there to support each other. He enjoyed reading, video gaming, skate boarding and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Lori Williams of Marshalltown; brother, Jarrett Williams of Marshalltown; grandmother, Patricia Westphal of Marshalltown; girlfriend Tavia Legg; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
