Dewey Adams, 82, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 22nd, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law near New Providence. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Randy Crane, hospice chaplain, officiating. He will be laid to rest at a 2:00 p.m. Monday graveside service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on highway #63 north at Waterloo with military honors. Dewey was born on June 29th, 1924, at Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Gertrude (Leonard) Adams. He graduated form the Tama High School and then served our country honorably in the United States Navy for four years, WWII. He was employed at John Deere in Waterloo for 26 years until retiring in 1985. In 1991, he moved to Arkansas until returning in 2004 upon the death of his wife, Mary Ann, on January 5th. Mr. Adams was a member of the Waterloo American Legion Post #0138 and the Union for John Deere. Left to mourn his loss are his children: Michael in the state of Nevada, JR (Bobbie) Corson of New Providence, Paula (JR) Dixon of Waterloo, and Jenny Higeera of Evansdale, Iowa, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his only surviving sister, Vivian Benedict of Belle Plaine as well as several friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, wife Mary Ann, siblings: Anna Dipple, Nettie Werner, Bonnie Kelding, Edwin Adams and Thomas Adams.
