Diane Bowers

Diane Bowers, 66, of Gilman, died early Sunday morning, June 23, 2013, at the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Gilman Community Church. She will be laid to rest in the Prairieview Cemetery at Gilman. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born on July 26, 1946, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Norman Shorty and Mary C. (Hobbs) Holmes. She graduated from the Gilman High School Class of 1964, and later Iowa School of Beauty in Marshalltown. In 1970, she was united in marriage to Perry Bowers and to this union, two sons were born- Shane and Jason. They were married for 17 years. Diane was a cosmetologist in her early years, worked for the Cottage in Gilman, Iowa and Meskwaki Casino. She also worked at Ernestos Restaurant. Diane was a member of the Gilman Community Church, the Gilman American Legion Auxiliary, and Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed singing, cooking, crafts, crocheting, and treasured her family- especially the grandkids.Left to mourn her loss is her son, Jason (Sheila) Bowers of Gilman. Grandchildren: Jordan, Baylie and Blake Bowers; Austin Kingrey and Emma Pfantz; great-grandson, Ian; and many friends and other family.In death, Diane rejoined her mom and dad; her son, Shane; and brothers, Richard and Alan.
