Diane Pennell

Diane Pennell passed away on Tuesday, March 15th 2016, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown, Iowa, after a lengthy illness. A public visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 21st 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Homer and Norene (Wilson) Rinehart on April 6th, 1936, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was raised and educated here, graduating with the class of 1954. She continued her education, taking classes at the Marshalltown Community College. In 1955, in Nashua, Iowa, Diane and Gary Pennell were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Together, the family made their home in the Marshalltown area to raise their children. They later divorced. Diane was an employee of the Marshall County Courthouse, working in the County Clerks office. She was a member of the White Shrine, Eastern Star and The Rebeccas. Diane enjoyed Gardening, crocheting, making and arranging silk flowers and watching birds. She was also a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America, she also loved camping with the Vagabonds. Left to cherish her memory are her children; SuEllen Pennell (Iowa City), Scott Pennell (Montour), Beth Pennell (Iowa City) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In death, Diane rejoins her parents; G. Homer and Norene (Wilson) Rinehart, brother; Karl Rinehart, son; Mark Pennell, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren, ex-husband; Gary Pennell.
