Dixie G. Burg, 81, of Maxwell, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. To honor her and her family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 21st from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Dixie’s family will hold a private burial at a later date at the Eden Cemetery in Rhodes. Memorial contributions may be directed to her family for a later designation. Born on July 6, 1940, in Bancroft, IA, Dixie was the daughter of Lyle and Emily (Mitchell) Dixon. She grew up in the area of her birth and attended public school there. As a young adult, she was united in marriage to Larry Gummert and the couple later divorced. In 1978, she married Ralph Burg in Marshalltown where they made their home and raised their family. Dixie was employed at Marshalltown Instruments and later at the Donnelly Corporation. Most recently, she had been employed at the State Center Nursing Home. After Ralph passed away, Dixie moved to her daughter’s home south of Maxwell. Dixie enjoyed attending the Fellowship Baptist Church, going to the casino and cooking. Most of all, she loved her family dearly and she will be deeply missed. Surviving are her children: Warren (Wendy) Gummert and Rebecca (Don) Fuller; her step children: Rochelle “Shelly” Kirchner, Sharon (Dave) Lepsic and Mick (Shelly) Burg and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In eternal life, Dixie is reunited with her parents; her husband, Larry and husband, Ralph and her brother, James Dixon.
