Don was born on February 25th, 1926 on a farm in rural Marshall County, the fourth child born to Raymond and Mable Moorman Case. He was raised on the farm where he learned love of family, and an appreciation of hard work and values. He attended the Liscomb Community School. You could find him throwing a baseball against the barn perfecting his fastball. He pitched for the high school team and later was scouted out for the St. Louis Cardinals. At age 18, he enlisted in the Army and served honorably during WW2 as an infantry soldier in the European Theatre. Returning home he pitched with the Ansons semi pro traveling team. In 1948 he married Maxine O'Connor and they made their home in Liscomb all their lives. He worked for Fisher Controls where he was so proud to work alongside his six brothers until his retirement in 1983. After retirement, Don traded in his bat and ball and picked up the sport of golfing in which he excelled at and loved. In 2012 he was able to go to Washington DC on the Honor Flight. Donald loved his Sunday family dinners, teasing his children and grandchildren, Zeno's pizza, going to Doo Dah's for breakfast, country music, singing, his church family and playing his harmonica. He loved the girls that took such good care of him at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Memberships include, Liscomb American Legion Post 87, where in 2014 he received his seventy year membership award, Liscomb Church of Christ, BCL Sport Booster, Oakwood Golf Course, and more recently the Liscomb Coffee Shop. Cherishing his memories are his 3 children, Kevin and Donna Case of Marshalltown, Kristine (Laine) Rittgers of Liscomb, and Kim and Kelly Case of Conrad. Seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren, his brother Floyd Case of Conrad, his late in life love, Marian Hale of Liscomb, Sister-in law's Karen Case and Edith Case of Marshalltown and Marjorie Bunn of Conrad and many nieces and nephews. There to meet him Sunday morning was his mom and dad, wife Maxine, sister Lena and brothers Calvin, Bernard, Mainard, Marvin, Larry, and Clifford.
