Donald Roy Crawford, 78, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be prior to service time from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. also at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice Home. Donald Crawford was born on February 13, 1935 in Osage, Kansas to Roy and Thelma Vaughn Crawford. He graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1952. On November 26, 1955 Donald was united in marriage to Genevieve Giarratano at St Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Donald farmed near the Garwin area up until his retirement in 2004. Donald was a member of Farm Bureau as well as the Central Iowa Coon Hunters Association. Donald loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles, gardening, hiking and spending time in the timber, boating, water skiing and animals. Above everything else he enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years; Genevieve. Children: Nancy (Mark Scheid) Jones of Garwin, Cindy (Bill) Benson of Marshalltown, Terri (Joel) Weitzell-Meyer of Wellsburg and Lisa (Shannon) Van Rees of Garwin. Grandchildren: Nathan, Andrea, Allison, Corey, Patrick, Jason, Alisha, Kyle, Lauren, Ryan, Chad and Reahna. Great Grandchildren: Caleb, Noah, Kiara, Easton, Jessie, Jacob, Cara, Kali, Ian, Elliot, Cole, Morgan, Landen, Will, Alivia, Brandon, Cameron, Jase, Kaitlyn and Tristan. Brother Jim (Sue) Crawford of Mission, Texas, several nieces and nephews and his loyal pet dachshund named Amy. Donald is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Thelma, grandson Bryan Jones, sister Jean Seliger, son in law Brian Weitzell, mother in law Elda Giarratano, father in law Joe Giarratano, brother in law Dick Seliger and Erwin Giarratano.
