Don then worked with the Milwaukee Road Railroad at Ferguson and served our country honorably in the US Army reserves. He also attended DeVry University in Chicago. They made their home in Marshalltown for 13 years until building their home west of Ferguson. Don was employed at Fishers until retiring in 1996 and had also worked at Lennox as well as farming. He treasured his family and enjoyed racing, golf, snowmobiling, go-carts, his pets, teaching the family how to drive (fast!), dirt-work and the outdoors. Left to cherish his memory are Bev, his loving wife of nearly 50 years, his daughters: Dana (Dan) Runner of Gilman and Darci (John) Damman of Melbourne, six precious grandchildren- Drew, Delaney, Julie, Jacob, Jane and Jenna, his nieces that he and Bev were blessed to have as a part of their family- Dawn (John) Jamison of Laurens, Iowa and Jolene (Mark) Matney of Ankeny, his only sister Dorothy (Bob) Scott of Gilman and many friends. In death, Don rejoined his parents and brother who died in infancy.
