Donald P. Dupratt

Donald DuPratt, age 85, of Marshalltown passed away late on the night of Tuesday, July 2nd, at the Grandview Heights while in their care and that of the Iowa River Hospice.           Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27th, 2019 (PLEASE NOTE DATE) at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on August 19th, 1933, in Omaha, NE, he was the son of Arthur and Dagmar (Larson) DuPratt. At the age of 14, the family moved to an acreage at Coon Rapids, IA, where Don completed his education, graduating in 1950.           After graduation, Don moved to Des Moines to begin employment at Firestone Tire Plant and worked faithfully for them from 1951 until retiring in 1983.           In 1953, he was united in marriage to Arlene Mohr and to this union three beautiful daughters were born. They made Des Moines their home until moving to Marshalltown in 1983 to operate the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store on East Main Street. They also owned and operated the Speed-Wash on South 3rd Avenue and the High Street Mobile Home Court as well as the Appliance Doctor on South 7th Avenue. Don was also employed at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home for many years. Don was a faithful longtime member of the Matins Kiwanis and enjoyed umpiring in younger years.           In 1999, the couple moved to Florida to enjoy a shared passion- Golf! In 2013, when health issues arose, they returned to Marshalltown to be near family.           Left to cherish his memory is Arlene, his loving wife of 66 years; three daughters- Cindy Lukehart of Ankeny, Jill Crawford of Memphis, TN, and Lori Klosterman of Marshalltown as well as five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.           In death, Don rejoined his parents, son-in-law and brother
