Donald Eberhardt, 75, died late Tuesday night, November 26th, at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad with his family at his side. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Born on January 10th, 1938, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Emmett and Dorothy (Shoemaker) Pieters. He received his education in Marshalltown. On April 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to his sweetheart, Sandra Zmolek, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garwin. They made their home in Garwin and Marshalltown. Don was employed in the meat packing industry for many years and Lorenzen-Beale grain elevator in Garwin. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, was an excellent candy maker and treasured his family. Left to cherish his family are his children: Kirk Eberhardt of Legrand, Teresa (Mike) Smith West Des Moines, Jan Lingard of Marshalltown, , Cara Jackson of Marshalltown, and Dona Hildreth (Jason McDonnell) of Coralville and grandchildren- Justin Eberhardt (Jenissa Johnston), Jaime Goetsch (Joel), Ciera Keith (Bryan Chesnut), Lexi Hubert, Kevin Lingard (Abby), Ian Lingard, Crystal (Gary) Landreth, Tyler Fisher, and Zayleigh Hildreth as well as four precious great-grandchildren- Myrna Eberhardt, Anna Lingard and Katherine and Melody Goetsch. Don is also survived by his son-in-law Kevin Lingard, Brother, Larry Pieters of Marshalltown, many nieces, nephews and his Oakview Family in Conrad. In death, Don rejoined his beloved wife Sandra, his parents, brother Francis Menter and grandson Eric Lingard.
