Donald Edel

Donald Edel, age 73, of Marshalltown, passed away in his home on Monday, November 21st.

Born on June 14th, 1949, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Roger and Rita (Quinn) Edel. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from the Lenihan High School in Marshalltown. He was a proud member of the Knight of Columbus (4th Degree and past Grand Knight).

Donald was united in marriage to Georgette Cold, and to this union a son, Chris, was born. Marshalltown was always home to Don.

Don would like to experience different things in life that caught his eye. From bowling to fishing, boating and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs, he tried it all.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Chris (Meri) Edel of Marshalltown, two grandchildren- Alex Edel (fiancé Jamie) of Tiffin, Iowa, and Leah Edel of Ottumwa; siblings- Anthony (Carol) Edel, Thomas (Jeanine) Edel, Lawrence (Sveta) Edel, Mary Ellen (Tom) Skorczeski, David (Kathy) Edel and Carol Geil

(fiancée Jeremy Park) as well as several nieces and nephews.

In death, he rejoined his parents, his brother Richard, wife Barb (2021) and prior longtime companion, Mary Jane VonKrog.
