Donald Don Mooney, 70, of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Graveside services for Don will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Bonser officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Dons family will be present to greet friends and family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Don and his family. Donald Mooney was born on September 16, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of James and Evelyn (Anselme) Mooney. He was raised and educated until the 8th grade in the Eldora School District. In 1980 he received his GED. Following his time in school, Don went on to honorably serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. On October 19, 1970, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marilyn Gray, in Elk Point, South Dakota. From this union the couple had two daughters: Michelle and Amy. Don was a very hardworking man doing many things in his lifetime but most recently he owned and operated Dons Repair shop. He had a passion for fishing, enjoyed socializing and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Marilyn Mooney; children: Michelle (Brad) Wilson and Amy (Dan) Geels; grandchildren: Tyler Wilson and Benton Geels; siblings: Delores (Bob) Vasey, Ada Sizemore, Ardis Mabe and one sister-in-law: Joan Mooney; also is four legged furry companion: Paige, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Floyd and both sets of grandparents.
