Donald Nason

Donald “Don” L. Nason, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, February 22, 2019. Funeral services for Don will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will start prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Donald L. Nason was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on October 30, 1936, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Bates) Nason of Conrad.  Don graduated from Conrad High School, Marshalltown Community College and Evangel College in Springfield, MO.  After his 1966 Evangel graduation, Don was employed in Missouri as a social worker.  He later returned to Iowa to the Nason family farm, located north of Conrad and spent the rest of his life as a farmer.  Don enjoyed traveling and especially his trip to Hawaii in 2017.  He was able to achieve his goal and to travel to all 50 states.  Don was on the Grundy County Ag Board and the board of Oakview Nursing Home as well.  He volunteered at the Marshalltown Hospital and homeless shelter.  He attended the Salvation Army Church in Marshalltown.  Don was married to Patricia Schwenger of Dubuque.  After their divorce, he married Janet Collins.  Janet passed away in 1999.  On March 7, 2016 he married Roberta Brown McCammant of Marshalltown.  Left to cherish Don’s memory is his wife, Roberta and her sons, Mike, Jeff , and Greg and Don’s sons, Lee and Michael; siblings: Eileen Hager McCubbin of Dallas, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Nason of Hubbard, IA as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Ethel, as well as wife, Janet (Collins) Nason.
