Donald B. Don Reid, 84, of Marshalltown, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 27th at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery. He was educated in the Eldora area school system. Don was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. On July 25, 1941, he married Doris Jean Weatherly. They eloped to Bethany, Missouri and then spent all of their married life in Marshalltown. To this union, one son, Keith, was born. Don and Doris enjoyed traveling in their motor home, spending January to March each winter in Sams Town, Nevada. Don sold cars for 40+ years in Marshalltown, working at Gralnek Motor Sales, Godfrey Motors, and Marshalltown Chrysler-Plymouth-Imperial. He was a member of the American Legion and Good Sams Club. Don is survived by: his son, Keith (Sherry) of Marshalltown; his granddaughters, Katy Reid and Emily Reid, both of Marshalltown; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Haley, and Lucy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean Reid, in 2003; his parents; and one brother.
