Donald “Don” Duwayne Ross Sr., 93, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Born May 22, 1930 in Ringsted, Iowa, he was the son of Clyde A. and Clara K. (Jensen) Ross. Don honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserve from May 1951 to May 1953. He married the love of his life, Marjorie L. Arment, on December 23, 1951 at First Friends Parsonage.
Don worked at Rinehart Moving and Storage (North American Van Lines) for many years until he retired in 1998. The last few years before he retired, Marjorie worked alongside of him.
Before and after retirement he enjoyed woodworking and the whole family benefited with beautiful shadow boxes and wall hangings. He liked watching Nascar races, Western shows and The Price is Right.
Most of all, Don loved his family and spent a lot of time with all of them.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Lyn (Phil) Pickett of Marshalltown, Don Ross Jr. of Grinnell and Pam (Mel) Brown of Marshalltown; his grandchildren: PJ (Shannon) Pickett of Melbourne, Greg Pickett of Baxter, Cody Pickett (Keisha Henry) of Carlisle, Angela (Wyatt) Manship of Marshalltown and Missy (Robby) Rettig of Marshalltown; great-grandchildren: ShayeLyn Pickett (Ben White), Xander Pickett and Madison Pickett, all of Melbourne, Lilyan Pickett and James Pickett of Baxter, Maleah Pickett of Grinnell, Treyce Henry and Kashtyn Henry of Carlisle, Camille Pickett of Wisconsin, and Kohl Manship, Paige Manship, Ryker Rettig and Stella Rettig of Marshalltown; great-great-grandchildren: Adam White and Phillip King-Pickett, both of Melbourne; two sisters: Mary (Dick Chance) Butler of Grimes and Janet (John) Vry of Liscomb; and many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Marj; his daughter, Cindy Prusha; his parents, Clyde and Clara; two brothers; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
