Donald E. Troutner, 73, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, October 13th, 2009, at his home while in care of the Iowa Hospice and his loving family. Don came home to the place he loved, with the people he loved, after 155 days at the hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Kosbau of the E-Free Church Officiating. Full military honors will be performed by the VWF Harry C. Harter Post #839. A luncheon will be served immediately following at the E-Free Church, 3111 South 6th Street. For those wishing to toast his memory, please come after the lunch to the LOG Hall at 209 North 13th Street. Memorials may be directed to his family. There will be no visitation. Don was born May 30th, 1936, in Colo, the son of Floyd and Maxine (Brown) Troutner. They moved to Marshalltown when he was a young boy. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1955 and served in the United States Navy for the two years following graduation. As a teenager, he worked at Cliftons Grocery Store and after returning from service was employed by Lennox for 12 years. He later was a letter carrier for the Marshalltown Post Office for 26 years. In 1998, he retired at the age of 62. On March 26th, 1992, he was united in marriage to Phyliss Krier Wadle. All together Don and Phyliss had nine sons. He was previously married to Emily Himes and Mary Henstein. He was an active Legion of Guardsmen member for over 30 years, serving as commander on the local and national levels. Don was known to be a die-hard Hawkeye fan and a Cyclone fan when they werent playing the Hawks! Don is survived by his wife Phyliss, of Marshalltown; two brothers- Bob (Patty_) Troutner of Silverdale, WA, and Doug (Ileen) Troutner of Marshalltown, sons: Perry (Mindy) Himes of Marshalltown, Duane (Darlene) Himes of Omaha, Andrew (Dawn) Troutner of Melbourne, Mike Troutner of St. Petersburg, FL, Shawn (Angie) Troutner of Marshalltown, Tracy (Valerie) Troutner of Marshalltown, Steve Wadle of Des Moines, Dave (Laurie) Wadle of Marshalltown and Tony Mason of Marshalltown, his 15 precious grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild: Dakota, Cheyanne, Corey, Priscilla, Reese, Josiah, Samuel, Merrill, Davison, Cooper, Laramey, Chris, Tony, Carrie, Curt and Austin, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Maxine Troutner and a brother, Floyd W. Troutner, Jr.
