Donita Jo Waterman Clapsaddle

Donita Jo (Waterman) Clapsaddle was born second daughter to Jerry (Kathy) Waterman and Leota Giarratano on February 6, 1958. She entered this world independent, dancing and full of life. She left this world the same way. I am sure she gave Mom and Dad many gray hairs: from climbing out of her crib, falling and breaking her collarbone, to seeing Dad on the roof shirtless reroofing the house and she climbed out of the window shirtless, wanting to do be like Dad. She loved her children and grandchildren, dancing, birthday shopping, traveling to Bristol to watch NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, and last but not least, her 1956 Chevy “Nellie.” Whatever she did, she did it with gusto. In 1974 she married Keith Clapsaddle. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1976. Her skills were all from the school of life; candy striper, RTW at Iowa Veterans Home for 16 years, to Casey’s and Walmart in customer service, all leading to her favorite job: gate attendant at Menards. She also worked Woolen Mills in Amana were she learned pie crust making. She is survived by Mom, Dad, sister Connie (James) Waterman-Poole, daughters Karen (Randy) Rockne and Amy (Mike) Zeman. Grandchildren Joe Stanton II; Jersey and Jasper Zeman; Scott and Bree Rockne. Step-sisters Cheri and Lisa Albert and step-brothers Donnie Giarratano (Rama) and Don (Karen) Albert. Aunts Linda (Jack) Rouse; Linda (Rager) Welton, Corrine (Lowell) Reed; Alona Broyles and uncles Keith (Karen) Waterman and Norman Rouse. Brother-in-law Patrick Coles. Many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, she joins sister Michelle Coles, brother Scott Waterman, grandparents Harold and Edith Rouse and Nolan and Beulah Waterman; stepfather Sam Giarratano, uncles Howard Peterson, Marvin Stubbs, Jack Rouse, LaVerne Rouse and Vern Crookshank; aunts Zeta Peterson, Veleta Tinter and Delores Crookshank; cousins Steve, Laura, Robby and Jeff Peterson. Services for Dawn are Tuesday, April 26 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 1:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Garden.
