Donna Arringdale

Donna “Rokki” Arringdale, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 18, 2024 at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 and Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, both at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Garwin Union Cemetery.

Born Donna Lee Walker on October 11, 1932 in Boone County, IA, the fifth of seven children of Robert Verne and Mary Harriet (Germer) Walker. She graduated from Boone High School in the Class of 1950. While in High School she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. As well as a doubles Badminton champion.

Donna was united in marriage to Jared Lynn Arringdale, on July 24, 1950 in Boone. From this union were six children, Jerilee, Jeanette, Julie, Judi, John and Mari Jo.

Throughout her life Donna was employed at Iowa State University, Woolco department store, Tama County Attorney’s Office and later worked at Marshalltown Community College as the manager of the bookstore until her retirement. Donna went back to college in her 50’s, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

One of the highlights of her life was keeping score for Big Jer and his fastpitch softball team. Years later she found joy keeping score at her granddaughter’s games. Not only did she keep score but she was also their biggest cheerleader.

Donna enjoyed going to Restore Church in Marshalltown, where she was able to watch her grandson teach the word of God and express her faith alongside friends and family. She enjoyed shopping for her children and grandchildren, cooking them the gourmet frozen pizzas (with extra cheese) and spending as much time as she could with them. Above all other things, Donna loved her family. You could see the joy on her face when they were around. She knew no strangers; she was the friendly face you would find at the store and talk for hours.

Donna will be missed by her children, Jeanette (Dewayne Huber) Arringdale, John (Connie) Arringdale and Mari Jo (Todd) Nagel; son-in-law, Sam Fuller; grandchildren, Donna Jo, Dylan (Aubrey), Rex “Deuce”, Jeremy, Angie (Johnny), Jason, Annie, Misty (Mike), Julie, Kasie, Ruby, Stephanie (Josh), Justin (Jessica); 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; all six of her siblings; three daughters, Jerilee Does, Julie Millier and Judi Fuller; and the love of her life, Jerry “Big Jer”
