Donna Lepley

Donna (Mrs. Gary) Lepley, 48, of Whitten, died early Tuesday morning, June 12th, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 18th, at the Whitten Community Church with Pastor Jim Hartman officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Shepherd Cemetery at Union. A time of fellowship will follow the burial back at the church. Ph 641-844-1234.Born on December 12th, 1958, in Bellflower, California, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Brenda (Tanner) Catherwood. She graduated from the Union-Whitten High Schools Class of 1978. On May 11th, 1979, she was united in marriage to Gary Lepley in Union. They have resided in the Union and Whitten Communities all of their married lives. Mrs. Lepley was employed for nearly 15 years at the Iowa Veterans Home as a nurses aid and most recently at the Union Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer until her health failed last year. Donna attended the Whitten Community Church and will be fondly remembered for her love of her family, children, her min-pin and miniature dachshund and fat cat, bird watching, her occupation and sitting around campfires and enjoying tinfoil dinners. She was a very generous lady who will be greatly missed by many. Left to mourn her loss are her husband Gary, sons: Dan of Hills, Iowa and Matt at home, brother Larry Catherwood of rural Garwin and sister LoisKriegelof Whitten, her mother Brenda of rural Conrad and in-laws Morris and Grace Lepley of Union. In death she has rejoined her father who died in 1997 and her grandparents.
