Donna Mae Maulsby, 78, of Gilman, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the comfort of her home with her special neighborhood and loving family by her side. A celebration of life for Donnas (Grandma Chicken) life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Whitehead officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be directed in Donnas name to her family. Donna Mae Carr was born on January 8, 1936 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Truce and Mable (Finch) Carr. She was raised and educated in the Shawnee School District attending school in Shawnee, Oklahoma. On November 9, 1951, Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth Maulsby. The couple made their home in Marshalltown. They later moved to LeGrand, Montour, and most recently, Donna lived in Gilman. During her life, Donna worked for her husband, Kenneth, as his secretary for LeGrand Heating and Air Conditioning and later they owned and operated LeGrand Motel from 1976-1980. She had passions for gardening, canning, cooking, gambling, Keno, her grandchildren and her dogs, Princess and Duke. Left to cherish Donnas memory is her daughter Tracy (Gary) Catron of Gilman; grandchildren: Lindsay ( Emily Olinger ) Catron of Dayton, Ohio; Ryan (Tiffany) Catron of West Des Moines, Iowa; Megan (Moises) Juarez of Gilman, Iowa; Donnie (Natalie) Baker of Edinburg, Scotland. Son, John (Pam) Fleming of Gladbrook, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Jaylan and Kinder Catron, Diesel the dog, Keyshawn, Emily Cheyanne, and Alex and Sophia Juarez; two brothers: Dennis Butch (Sue) Carr of Scottsdale Arizona, and William (Paula) Carr of Bakersfield, California. In death, Donna has rejoined her husband, Kenneth; her parents; one daughter, Lori Maulsby-Klingbeil; one sister and one brother.
