Donna Sue (Hatchett) Norton, 51, of Garwin, died Monday September 6, 2010 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Atlantic, Iowa, at the Assembly of God Church, 1913 East 22nd Street. There will be an ASL interpreter for the service. Visitation will be at 1:00 prior to the services. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. For condolences please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Donna Sue (Hatchett) Norton, the daughter of Ralph Hatchett Jr. (deceased) and Robert and Mary Abild, was born March 23, 1959, at Itazuke Air Force Base in Fukoka, Japan. Donna returned stateside when she was 6 weeks old to Neosho, Missouri, where she resided until 1970. She resided in Kansas City, Missouri, until 1975 when she moved with her mother and sister to Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1977. Donnas passion was her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, crafting, reading and being with her many friends who were deaf. Donna spent many hours outside enjoying nature and fishing with her husband, Steve. Surviving Donna are her husband Steve Norton of Garwin; her daughter Sheena (Jeff) Parks and their children Lena, Abby and Jocie of Garwin; her son Mike Bringmann and his children Damon and Ava of Gilman; step-children: Ryan (Kimberly) Norton of Omaha, Chanel (Chad) Hill and their children Lexie and Lacie of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Mandy (Jeff) Vogel of Germany; her parents Robert and Mary Abild of Atlantic; her sister Barbara (Dan) Gold; and step-siblings: Greg (Kathy) Abild, Russ (Jan) Winship, Cindy Schlake, John (Diane) Abild, Robin Mills, Ronda (Tim) Wilkinsen and Janet Christensen. She is also survived by her uncle Don (Jean) Grimsley and aunt Sue (Wes) Green; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Donna in death were her father Ralph Hatchett Jr.; grandparents Reverend Fred and Velma Grimsley, Neosho, Missouri, and Ralph and Berna Lee Hatchett; and cousin Lois Grimsley. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Donnas good friend of 33 years, Deby Britt of Georgia. They would also like to thank the staff and nurses of Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa, for the homelike atmosphere and wonderful care provided to Donna during her final days.
