Donna Pfantz

Donna Pfantz, 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama, Iowa, surrounded by her family. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service for Donna will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Care for Donna and her family have been entrusted to Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Donna Jean Crum was born on November 26, 1941 to parents Guy and Sophia “Rosie” (Hobson) Crum in Albion, Iowa. Donna attended school in Albion and later graduated from Albion High School in the Class of 1959. On June 28, 1959, she married the love of her life Byron Pfantz. They began their family raising two daughters Rachel and Linda. She worked for Cooper Manufacturing on the work floor until her retirement in 1983. The two celebrated 62 years of marriage together. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, a member of T.O.P.S. and the Marshalltown Lioness Club. In her free time, Donna enjoyed working on various crafting projects, singing in the church choir, leading devotionals at church, working through a large number of puzzle books, sewing, watching her grandchildren, working in the garden and canning her fruits and vegetables. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband, Byron; her children, Rachel (Art) Nelson and Linda Atha; her grandchildren: Nathan (Lee Ann) Grewell, Kristen (Eric) Sager, Danielle (Joel) Downs and Joshua (Joanna) Atha; her step-grandchildren: Erin (Mike) Vaughn, Nicole Nelson and Whitney (Chase) Kaufman; her great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren: Kailynn Grewell, Owen Sager, Brynn Sager, Knox Atha, Nash Atha, Jayce Sager, Addysyn Skyberg, Brylee Nelson, Cael Kaufman, Quintin Nelson, Beckham Vaughn and Greyham Vaughn; alongside numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Rosie Crum; her great-grandchildren, Molly Grewell and Daniel Sager; and her brother, Larry Crum.
