The Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown is caring for Donna and her family. Donna loved warm weather and you could always find her out and about visiting neighbors and friends all over town. She loved to go down to the local ice-cream shop for an ice-cream cone on a daily basis. She also loved to go and watch the lawn mower races in Carlisle at the River Bottom Raceway. Two of the racers were her grandson and great-granddaughter- her son is the flagman. She also helped to promote the race track every chance she got by calling the local newspaper and news stations to come and interview racers and track officials. She was involved with the track that in 2015 at the awards banquet she was awarded with a number one fan plaque from the race teams. Donna was involved with the Tri-Five Chevy Club as a member for many years and enjoyed the company of other 50’s era enthusiasts. She loved 50’s rock and roll music- especially the Everly Brothers- and she truly loved Phil (“He’s Dreamy”- her words). She loved the Iowa State Fair and looked forward to the rock and roll reunion where they displayed 50’s era cars and 50’s music rock concert. Donna loved watching NASCAR and the Vikings play to stay closer to her son. She knew all the racers and players by name and numbers. She enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds play baseball- her favorite players were Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench and Pete Rose. Donna See was born on February 23rd, 1940, to parents Fred and Ellen (Wall) Burgess and grew up in Marshalltown, graduating from the Marshalltown High School in 1958. She soon moved to Des Moines after graduation. Donna is survived by her son, Joel See (LeeAnn) of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren-Emily (Brian), Derik (Jessica), Seth, Hannah, Nathan, Taylor and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren; three nieces whom she loved dearly.
