Donna Sloat

Donna M. Sloat, 59, of Melbourne, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing, Iowa.   Celebration of life for Donna will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Donna and her family.   Donna Davis was born on February 13, 1960 in Grinnell to Marvin and Viola Grace (Onthank) Davis. Donna graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1979 then went on to Marshalltown Community College to finish her education. On July 20, 1979, Donna was united in marriage to Chris Sloat and to their union; had Amy, Amanda and Jesse. Donna had previously worked at Theisen’s in Marshalltown on the sales floor. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and just spending time with family.   Donna is survived by her husband of 40 years, Chris. Children: Amy Sloat of Union, Amanda Moore of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii and Jesse (Vanessa) Sloat of East Peru. Grandchildren: Ryan, Sebastian, Dakotah, Keaton, Alex, Illa and Amelia. She is also survived by her mother, Viola Grace Davis of Le Grand and siblings: Gloria (Dennis) Carkhuff and Jeff (Brenda) Davis.   Donna is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Davis; brother, Lester Davis and father in law Raymond and mother in law Donna.
