Donna (Roger) Smith, 82, of Garwin, died Tuesday, February 14th, at the Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday. Born Donna Lowry on May 25th, 1929, in rural Marshall County, she was the youngest of six children born to Claude and Clara (Morris) Lowry. She graduated from the Garwin High Schools Class of 1946. She began her working career as a telephone operator in Traer and retired from working for Marshall County in the tax payers/ licensing department in 1994. She was a member of the Garwin United Methodist Church and enjoyed making Christmas candy, embroidering and quilting. Left to cherish her memory are Roger, her loving husband of 62 years whom she married on December 24th, 1949, in Albion, her daughter Jackie (Larry) Allen of Rotonda West, Florida, granddaughter Jacey (Tom) Nost of Cedar Rapids and their son Scott and her only surviving sister Evelyn Roy of Gladbrook. In death, Donna rejoined her parents and siblings: Morris, Myron, James Lowry and Ruby Crouse.
