Dora Johnson, 73, of the Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, formerly of Marshalltown, died early Monday morning, May 7th, at the MMSC. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Vienna Cemetery at Beaman. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow the burial at the hospitality room of the funeral home. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dora and her family. Ph 844-1234. Born Dora Petersen on August 4th, 1933, in Clifton, Kansas, she was the daughter of Eugene and Dora (Hinkle) Petersen. She graduated from the Green Mountain High School and later received her nurses aid training in the early 1970s. She had worked at Kresges as a waitress and many years doing home health care. For three years, she was a nanny in Boston. On March 15th, 1954, in Tama County, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Virgil Johnson. They lived in Marshall County most of their married lives. She had been a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Left to mourn her loss are her children: Steven (Ila) Lampe of Albion, Virginia Michel (Rob) of Gladbrook, Carol (Loren) Bracy of Albion, Karen Johnson of Tama, Alan (Joanne) Johnson of Hubbard, Pam (Brad) Powers of Waverly, and Don (Becky) Johnson of Lennox, SD., 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, siblings: Gerald (Mavis) Petersen of Hampton, Harold Petersen of Des Moines, Jack (Melba) Petersen of Joplin, MO., Rita (Don) Bruene of Boone, Iowa, Marybelle (Dick) Krotaska of Marshalltown and Betty Nichols of Marshalltown, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, her husband Virgil who died in September of 2002, brother Bud, sister Shirley and half-sister Edna Mae Griffin.
