Doreen Black Robins, 80, of Marshalltown died Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 at her home, while in the care of Iowa River Hospice, and with her loving family by her side. A celebration of Doreens life, and Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15th at St. Marys Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Miller officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of the Cross at Riverside Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be at the Moose Lodge following interment. A memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Doreen and her family, phone 641-844-1234. Doreen was born in rural Tama County on March 5th, 1929 to parents Lawrence and Helen (Coyle) Fiala. She graduated from Tama High School. In June of 1948, Doreen was united in marriage to Joe D. Black at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Marshalltown, where they raised their children. Joe passed away in 1980. In November of 1984, Doreen was united in marriage to Blair Robins at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Marshalltown. Blair passed away in 2007.Doreen was a member of the Moose Lodge and St. Marys Catholic Church. She spent her life as a homemaker, caring for and raising her children. She had a passion for dancing, loved to travel, observe the falling of the leaves along the Mississippi River every Fall, and play the penny slots at Meskwaki. Doreen was a precious gift to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Left to celebrate Doreens life is her son Robert (Norma) Black, her daughter Patti (LeRoy) Morford, and her daughter Mary (Bernie) Ferneau, all of Marshalltown; her grandchildren: Jody Eastridge, Jared Black, Kimberly Baeth, Jennifer Miller, Melissa Penner, Jodi Garcia, and Julie Ferneau; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother Vernon Fiala; three nieces and one nephew; as well as many friends.In death, Doreen has rejoined her parents, her husband Joe, her husband Blair, and her brother Buddy.
