Dorene Kay (Detrich) Hinmon passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Staying true to Dorene’s wishes no funeral services will be held at this time. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dorene and her family.  Dorene was brought into this world on April 18, 1951, to the proud parents of Donald and Marjorie (Weidner) Detrich in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was a graduate of West Delaware High School and the Nursing College in Marshalltown. On April 19, 1983, She was united in marriage to Mike Hinmon at the Little Brown Church. The two made their lives together in Marshalltown raising two children. In Dorene’s free time she loved to go camping anywhere she could. She enjoyed the campfire and reminiscing with her family and friends. She was quick witted and had a great sense of humor that could bring a smile to anyone she talked with. She loved Halloween and dressing up in costumes. Dorene had a love for her cats and loved to curl up for a nice cat nap whenever she could. She retired from the Marshalltown hospital after 39 years, where she is fondly remembered for making her coworkers laugh even when the nights were busy and stressful.  In 1996, she embraced the role of grandmother and never looked back. She brought joy into countless lives and will be missed by all that had the privilege to know her. She awaits her family and friends in Heaven with her dancing shoes on, a funny story and a mischievous smile and laugh to welcome you home. Left to cherish Dorene’s memory is her husband Mike, children: Carrie (Joe) Richards, and Wyatt (Angie) Manship, grandchildren: Tori, Bailee, Emma, Lily, Tristan, Kohl, and Paige, brother Dana Detrich, father Donald and her tabby cat Maggie. She is preceded in death by her mother Marjorie.
