Doris Arlene Dobbs, 86, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Unity Point Health - Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Doris Arlene Castell was born on July 19, 1933 in Marshalltown to Roy and Dorothy Abney Castell. She was united in marriage to James L. Dobbs in Blue Earth, Minnesota and he passed away in 1989. Doris was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose and VFW. She loved to play bingo, going fishing and cooking. Most importantly, Doris was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She welcomed everyone into her home and was referred to as “grandma” whether they were or not! Doris is survived by her children: Vicki McIrvin of Cedar Rapids, Connie (Joe Gorrell) Warren of Marshalltown, Jamell Goodman of Marshalltown and James Dobbs Jr. of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Carrie, Emily (Brett), Danessa, Brent, James, Eli, Yolonda (Brandon), Kelly (Hunter), Sierra (Colton), Ariel (Justin), Tabby (Brandy), Cora, Ruthy (Christian) and Kenzen. Great grandchildren: Quenlinn, Giovanni, Mylan, Devin (Heidi), Dakota (Sami), Anthony, Autumn, Xander, Sabastian, Brandon, Briana, Berlynn, Briton, Hendrix, Sean, Zoey, Izriel, Zelda, Ranger, Jermiah, Jagger, Jovi, Jayla, Chaz, Shay, Ella and Ryder and great great grandchildren: Kajun and Isaiah. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Roy and Dorothy; brother Harold (whom was her best friend); daughter-in-law, Carol Slinker and granddaughter, Keagan.
