Doris Axline, age 101, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 5, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Marshalltown with her family at her side.

Doris Marie Stivers was born November 15, 1923 in Monmouth, Illinois. She was the daughter of Fred and Leona “Gladys” (Walls) Stivers. She grew up in her hometown alongside her five siblings. She would later graduate from Monmouth High School on June 5, 1945.
Following high school, Doris received her first job working as an administrative assistant in a law office. Once the war began, she took on work at a factory that was building supplies for the war. On April 29, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to William V. Axline while he was on leave from the military. They were married in Monmouth. Together they had four children. After marriage, she took on a couple of part time jobs including working as a catalogue clerk and working for Montgomery Ward and eventually Sears. In 1968, she and her family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. She spent time caring for her family and making them her main priority.
Doris was a member of the Red Hat Ladies club and New Hope Christian Church. In her free time, she loved to read books, work on crossword puzzles, and took up time working on sewing projects. In her younger years, she had a pony that she was able to care for and loved very much. She had an interest in music and played the accordion for years. She was really great at it and held first seat in the band she played in.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Linda) Axline of North Carolina, Peggy (Kerry) Gish of Kewanee, Illinois, Pat Barker of Marshalltown, Iowa and Jeni (Don) Ver Steeg of Marshalltown, Iowa; her grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Brett, Brooke, Melissa, Robin, Ashley, Kiley, Shannon and Jeramy; her great-grandchildren, Chelbi, Quintin, Kyra, Jack, James, Jayden, Ethan, Erin, Nicholas, Abby, Ben, Olivia, Brooklyn, Brittyn, Ava, Mya and Savannah; and her sister, Carol Yocum.
She is rejoined in eternal life by her husband, William Axline; her parents, Fred and Gladys Stivers; her siblings, Helen (Harvey) Grohmann, Shirley (Bill) Hughey, Bud (Mary) Stivers and Bob Stivers and brother-in-law, Ron.
