Doris Mae Connley

Doris Mae Connley, 92, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare. Per the wishes of Doris and her family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home and there will be no formal services. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or the Animal Rescue League. Born Doris Mae Krouse on April 10, 1929 in Knoxville, Iowa, she was one of three children born to Edd and Ruby (Woolsey) Krouse. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1947, she went on to attend Marshalltown Community College. On August 20, 1948 Doris was united in marriage to Harold R. Connley at the Evangelical Church. Together they made their home in Marshalltown, where they raised their two daughters. Doris dedicated many years as bookkeeper for Home Furniture Company. She then went on to work several years in dietary at Grandview Heights before retiring. Doris was an avid reader and loved doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and the Marshalltown Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and spending time with family. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deb (LaVerne) Paul of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Tracy Mitchell and Joshua Cook; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In death, she is reunited with her beloved husband of 34 years, Harold; her daughter, Linda Runner; her parents and her siblings: Delno Krouse and Louise Proctor.
