Doris Dieken, 83, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, February 10, 2011at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the services. Phone: (641) 844-1234. Born Doris Cory on August 6, 1927, at Tama, Iowa, she was the daughter of Rowe and Vera (Buckingham) Cory. She received her education in the Columbia Township Schools in rural Tama County and graduated from the Tama High Schools Class of 1944. For twelve years, she taught in the rural Tama Schools and then for twelve years at Dunham-Bush before owning her own craft shop in Marshalltown for another twelve years. On June 26, 1988, she was united in marriage to Theodore Ted Dieken at Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Lime Springs, Iowa, for 14 years until moving to Marshalltown in 2002. Doris enjoyed crafts of all kinds.Left to cherish her memory is her sister, LaVon (Clyde) Vokoun of Montour, her nieces and nephews and many friends.In death, she rejoined her parents Rowe (1991), Vera (1990), and her husband Ted on March 28, 2000.
